Dress Code & Policies:
Make Up Classes.
Students are allowed three make up classes allowed per semester. A make up class must be occur in the same semester the class was missed. Please email email@example.com to schedule a make up. Any missed or no shows count against the three allotted classes.
if your auto-pay does not go through because of a non-working credit card you will have one week to bring your account up to date without incurring an additional fee of $30. Our system lets you know when your credit card does not process correctly. If your account does not remain in good standing after two weeks your child will not be able to attend class.
Lateness to Class.
Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to class. Students arriving 5 minutes after class begins will be asked to return the next week. Lateness is very disruptive to other students.
Late Pick Up Fee.
Children must be picked up within ten minutes of class end time. There will be a fee of $25 for pick ups after 15 minutes and an additional $25 for every 15 minutes late. This charge will be automatic.
Cancellation of registration / Move.
During the first 3 weeks students may cancel their registration for a $30 charge. After 3 weeks credit towards future classes may be given. There will be no refunds after 3 weeks except in the case where the student moves more than 5 miles away. In this case proof of new address is required for a full remaining refund minus $30 processing fee.
Girls: White sleeveless leotard, white chiffon dance skirt (not a tutu) pink tights and pink full soled ballet shoes. Black tap shoes if taking a tap class. Hair must be tied neatly off the face and neck in a bun or large clip.
Boys: Men’s black dance tights or leggings, fitted white or black t-shirt, black full soled ballet shoes.Black tap shoes if taking a tap class.
Those who receive a scholarship are expected to attend class regularly. If ten percent of classes are missed, students will be expected to show a doctor’s note to assure the absences are excused. If absences are not excused, the scholarship money will be forfeited and the student’s account will be charged for a regular semester or year. This is to be sure scholarship money is given to those who are passionate about our subject.
Entering the building at 37 Greenpoint Ave (main studio):
Students will be greeted at the 2nd doorway of the building (right next to Monk ramp). You will see one of the Ballet Institute staff waiting outside 10 minutes before each class time. A staff member will wait until 5 minutes after the class start time, after which the door will shut and late students will have to return the following week and/or arrange a makeup class.
Drop off procedure: ***All classes are drop off classes. Students will be greeted in front of the building 5-10 minutes prior to their class start time and escorted to the studio. They will then be brought to the front of the building 5 minutes after their class end time. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to class start time to ensure the students get the most out of their time spent in the studio.
All applicants seeking admission to the IBI Academic Year Program must register through the online registration form. Once registered, access is granted to IBI’s Family Portal where you can manage your family’s contact and payment information, add student registrations and more. All students must be registered prior to taking classes.
Makeup classes: Students are permitted 3 makeup classes during the semester in an appropriate level. Makeups must be scheduled with the school administrator. Once a makeup is scheduled, it is counted against the 3 allotted makeup classes.
